Senior Discussion Groups
Building Community in the Midst of Sheltering in Place
The Spahr Center’s discussion groups for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Seniors are now on Zoom!
We all need the opportunity to gather with other LGBTQ people, to be authentically who we are, and to share our lives. We invite you to join us in our discussion groups every Monday evening, 7 pm to 8 pm, and every Thursday afternoon, 12:30 pm to 2 pm. Both groups meet virtually to offer a warm, welcoming community of our peers along with a facilitated discussion on topics of interest to LGBTQ seniors as well as an opportunity to check in about our lives.
The Thursday groups have also offered seminars on issues such as resilience during the pandemic, gender and pronouns, systemic racism as well as dementia.
Zoom is free and easy to use from your computer, tablet or smartphone. You can even join via phone if you aren’t able to access Zoom online. If you would like to get more information, sign up for the emails, or participate in the groups, please contact Bill Blackburn, Senior Program Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Bill at 415-761-3261.
