Mental Health & Wellness Support

The Spahr Center provides affordable and accessible therapy services for queer and trans young people. Youth program therapy is offered on a sliding scale from $50–$0.

The Spahr Center is committed to reducing the stigma around mental health, and reducing barriers to getting services. If you feel like you could benefit from talking with a therapist, we are here to work with you directly, or connect you with a local therapist to meet your needs!

My name is Ari and I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern at The Spahr Center. I identify as a queer, Mexican-American cis-woman, and I use she/her pronouns. My current focus is centered around supporting transgender, nonbinary, and queer youth as they explore their various roles and identities in the world and within themselves. Sessions with me value each client’s unique goals and perspective. My aim is to co-create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore the many parts of themselves. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I understand that traditional psychotherapy was not created for BIPOC, TGNC, and LGBTQIA+ communities, therefore we must radically change what happens in the therapy room! I absolutely love working with youth at The Spahr Center, you all inspire me each and every day with your strength, resilience, and advocacy!

We also offer case management for those in need of additional support. This service is for you if you want help strategizing around difficulties coming up in your life or goals you’d like to work towards! Some examples of what we can talk about include: setting (and achieving!) goals for your life, navigating name and gender maker change process, access to insurance, and public benefits, working on academic motivation, job readiness, developing better self-care habits and routines, or strategizing around family difficulties and general resources.
